The conference is a joint project of the Foundation "Remembrance, Responsibility and Future" (Stiftung "Verantwortung, Erinnerung und Zukunft"), the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes, the Jewish Museum Berlin and the Leo Baeck Institute London.
The conference is part of the Leo Baeck Fellowship Programme that draws heavily on the support of the Leo Baeck Institute London. The former fellows Dr. Nitzan Lebovic (Tel Aviv University) and Dr. Mirjam Wenzel (Jewish Museum Berlin) had the idea for this conference. The Foundation "Remembrance, Responsibility and Future" is funding the conference as part of its support of the fellowship programme. The Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes is managing both the conference and the fellowship programme. The Jewish Museum Berlin hosts this conference generously.
